Post Op

I am one week post-op, propped and icing. Things are going well as far as healing. Stitches are coming out on Monday and hopefully I’ll be able to go back to work in the nearish future and not in five or more weeks. I’m not bored or anything. No, not me. I’m not tired of staring at the television and singing along to Wayne’s World as I type this. I’m also not making my own sourdough starter or sewing my dog bed. Nope.

Poor Scarlett is loving me being home. She comes out when she wants to be pet, barks at me when she wants to go outside, and enjoys sleeping in with me. She isn’t going to be happy when I drag her in for her dental at the vet.

So I had this plan when I went out. I was going to read and write and do crafts and read and write. I’ve only read when I was waiting for surgery and at appointments, and I’ve gone so far as to open documents. No writing. I’ve only been out a week, though, so I guess I can’t say I’ve really avoided it yet. I did submit a flash piece to a magazine, so that’s something. I do plan on reading and writing more than I have in the past week. I only have a ton of books to read.

What I have done is play on the Xbox I haven’t played on since I moved into my house over a year ago, and on my Switch. So, I have done something I planned on doing, even if it wasn’t exactly productive.

My appointment yesterday let me see my foot without all the bandages. It’s gross-looking, but not as gross as my last foot surgery. There’s a lot of bruising and swelling, but the incision is small and looks good, according to the doctor. I am now only taking Motrin and occasionally Tylenol if needed for pain. I have to get the swelling down 30-40% by Monday, so I need to keep up the anti-inflammatories and ice. The doctor has it wrapped in a compression bandage, which is better than before.

Well, I’m going to figure out what I’m going to work on while watching Wayne and Garth be idiots. If you haven’t seen it, watch it.
