Tomorrow I go back to school. I did what I thought would happen, and it backfired on me. I tried to relax some throughout the week, and I’m having to cram all this reading into the weekend. My house is a disaster, and I’m trying to do laundry and run the dishwasher and everything else between reading. I did work on reading, but the book isn’t the easiest to read. I read every single day, but I could have done more.
What I have left, about 60 pages of one book, just over 100 of another, a book presentation to put together, a flash fiction piece to write, and a short story to edit. That’s what’s due tomorrow. For Thursday, I have to read a 115-page book and edit a short story. I can do this. I think.
What has also made time management hard is having to do exercises and appointments for my foot. I have to sit in a massager for 15 minutes, do some unpleasant exercises, then sit for 15 minutes with a tens unit on my foot. The sitting part isn’t too bad, and I can read while I do it. The appointments have a nice, long drive, which takes time out of reading. I know, it’s not a lot of time, but it adds up when it’s twice a week. I’ll figure it all out, I usually do. Plus, in a few weeks, it’ll slow down. One class will be finished with books, and we’ll be critiquing stories.
My foot update: it’s hurting a little less. I started laser yesterday and expect pain from it, but it’s not terrible. I have 14 more treatments and a long time to go with exercises and adjustments. I have my back MRI and the follow-up appointment scheduled. I figure it’ll show years of abuse from limping and standing on concrete, but nothing more than that. The doctor is being cautious, and I’d much rather have a cautious doctor than one who will just go in with a knife and try to fix things. Hopefully, we’ll be able to schedule my bunion surgery then, also.
