This year has started interesting. I went to a walk-in for a sinus infection on New Year’s Eve and walked out with antibiotics because I have a sinus infection and a positive Flu A test. I feel fine, just a cough, and the antibiotics are wiping out the infection. I never really felt that bad, so all I can say is I guess my shot worked. So 2024 had Covid at Christmas and 2025 had flu on New Year’s Eve. What will 2026 bring?
I am looking forward to what 2026 will bring. I know it will be filled with reading and writing, but it’s a new year and open to many new things. I am getting my foot fixed (hopefully) and I’ll be writing and reading more. In one way it is daunting, but it’s also exciting. I get to try different things and learn from others.
My school break is still in full swing. I have about 3 more weeks before school starts again. I have already started reading one of the books needed for class, and the others have been ordered. A total of ten books for both classes. That means I’ll definitely have a lot of reading to do. I’m not sure if all of the reading will be from the books or if there will be online reading. I just hope it’s all spread out a bit because that’s a lot of reading.
The reading I’ve done during this break has exposed me to more essays, which also inspired me to write my first personal essay. The only thing I’m afraid of with it is that it is something I experienced, and it doesn’t shed the best light on someone. No names are given, and unless someone knew me from back then, no one will know who it is. As of now, there are no plans to publish it, but who knows what the future holds for anything I’ve written. Either way, I have one of my short stories written for one class.
So my weeks have been writing, reading, working, or relaxing. That is also how the next few weeks are going to go until I start another round of classes. I’m going to try to enjoy the time I have before school starts and prepare for it. The 16 weeks of class are going to be hard, but I’ll keep trying to find the balance.
