Winter Break

So I have officially finished my first semester of my master’s program. Grades are in for one class, 97.9%. I think I’ll take it. Can’t beat an A in a master’s class. My exam was uneventful. I read a portion of my story and got feedback on my short story. I think it’s the hardest exam I’ve ever had. Now I have a break until 1/26 when classes start again. Hopefully, I can find a better balance for that semester.

I have some news, though, and I’m unsure if it’s good news or not. I went to schedule my surgery for a bunion, and the podiatrist decided he thinks he can fix my messed-up foot. Sounds great, right? I’ve been dealing with chronic pain for over 10 years in my foot, and I’ve heard things along the lines of “we’ll try this,” and “this should help,” with temporary or a small amount of relief. He also said both feet have bunions and they need to be taken care of before they get worse, since they’re not too bad right now. So, a procedure and chronic pain have now turned into three procedures. They haven’t been scheduled because he wants to do some tests first. One is scheduled, but I haven’t been able to get ahold of the other to do the test. Once those are done, I may have to have one more test before the surgery is scheduled. We’ll see how it goes. I’m wondering if he’s going to do both feet at the same time since he wants to do the tests before scheduling anything.

I’ve been on vacation from work this past week. Today is the last day. I have done a lot of sleeping, some things around the house, and a lot of relaxing. I needed the break and I feel like I could use another week or two, but I’ll take what I can get. I have another coming at the end of April, which will be filled with nothing other than schoolwork and relaxing. I can’t wait.
