Work/ School Balance

This week has been, well, another week. I think it was semi-relaxing and low-stress. It was definitely not stress-free, but it was better than normal. My boss was on vacation, so I was going into the week as a very stressed person. Thankfully, we had good people working her shifts, and I was able to get a lot of stuff done. So work wasn’t the stressful place it normally is when she’s gone.

School was, school. I tried out my new story that I thought sucked and people actually liked it. It was weird. I didn’t like the story, but others did. For me, it was a good learning experience in trying something new. I guess hearing that people like my writing validates the reason I’m getting my master’s, which helps with the stress of it. I’m not looking for praise or anything, but it’s nice hearing I have the talent, even if I have a lot to learn.

I am currently learning about the science fiction genre and have to make a presentation on world-building for tomorrow. The research is there, but I still need to put it together and finish reading my assignments. I’ll get it all done. I’ll be honest, it’s not the most interesting thing I’ve read, but still important to learn.

I did go out and spend money I don’t really have to get a new tool for school. It’s the ReMarkable 2. I’m going through 2 ink cartridges a month printing out school work so thats $60 per month. Well, with the ReMarkable 2 I can just transfer the files to it and make notes, highlight, etc. No more paper, at least paper for that. I still have some things I have to print out, but not nearly as much. I’ve been using it since I picked it up yesterday and I like it. Literally all it does is allow you to write, draw, import pdfs and read while taking notes. Doesn’t sound all that great for most people, but it does what I need it to do. I’ve even started my short stories for my classes on it. I can move the documents to my computer and it’ll turn my writing into text. It’s actually pretty nice. It does have some flaws, but I knew the capabilities when I got it. I wish I could get books on it so I can take notes, etc. It’s fine though.
