A Sofa and a Dog

Sorry you haven’t heard much from me over the past few weeks. Just over 2 weeks ago, I was sitting on my bed playing on my phone or something, and Scarlett decided she wanted to be on the bed with me. I don’t think she realized where I was and managed to jump in my lap, landing on my right hand. I started out thinking nothing of it, but each day it kept getting worse. Well, after using many types of splints, ibuprofen, and Tylenol, I gave in and went to the doctor. On the up side, it’s not broken. I sprained it at the joint of my ring finger. I wore the splint the doctor fashioned for about 5 days, then changed to buddy taping. I thought I was good after a week to stop buddy taping, but after my weekend, I don’t think so. So another week with my fingers taped together. Fun. In the doctor’s defense, I don’t follow orders very well and he told me to wear the splint for a week before switching to buddy taping for a few weeks. I didn’t listen.

Last Sunday, I decided I needed a couch. I looked online and found some possibilities, and I was preapproved for credit for a couch. I went with my mom so I’d get a second opinion on it and found one I loved. I really didn’t look at too much, honestly. I wanted gray because I kept picking everything gray in my house since it’s neutral which has turned into my theme. I wanted a chaise so I could sprawl out on it and share it with Scarlett. I also wanted something that wouldn’t take a month to come in. So in about 10 minutes and 2 couches later I had everything set. My mom needed a new mattress so while I was shopping, she was looking at mattresses. I finished and helped her find one. Here’s the problem, she didn’t like the one I did. I’m also not the one sleeping on the mattress. I sit on her bed occasionally and pet the cat. That is the extent of time I spend on her bed, so my opinion wouldn’t matter. I did pick out the mattress I’m getting once my couch is paid off and I have more money. My two mattress pads are working, but they aren’t ideal. My couch was in stock, but with my work schedule I’m not home when they deliver so I have to rely on my mom to let them in, which meant having delivery at the same time. My couch is coming on Friday, and I can’t wait. I have had a conversation with Scarlett every day to tell her she needs to use my $1200 couch. We’ll see if that actually works.

My living room is small, which is fine because it’s just Scarlett and me. When I ordered the couch, I had 2 recliners, a standing lamp, 2 large coffee tables, a bookcase, and a puzzle table in my living room. This meant I needed to do some rearranging and thinking. So, I have moved 1 recliner into my office area (I was so proud of myself for doing it alone) and 1 end table into my bedroom while taking down Scarlett’s crate she hasn’t used since we moved. I’ve also done some other things around the house that just needed to be done, like hanging some of my paintings. I told you before, I don’t listen to doctor’s orders. I should have. My finger is feeling it, a lot. So while I still have things to do, I’m going to do them, but I’m going to make sure I don’t overdo it…again.
