Writing and Painting

So, as I’m sure you all know because I haven’t been able to stop talking about it, I’ve been moving for the past three weeks. I have been living unpacking boxes and putting together furniture. I’m getting there though.

Yesterday, I got a very nice package from Amazon. I got a drafting chair. Now, you’re probably wondering why I wanted a drafting chair. Well, I put it together and now have a little office area on my island in the kitchen. Not the conventional place to have one, but it works. I will never use an office because I have never used an office before. Yes, there’s the argument that if I had one I’d use it. I’m familiar with this argument. But I still won’t use it. Maybe if I get a work from home job I’ll set something up. Until then, I have a comfy drafting chair that I assembled and an area to write.

Every day this week, I have done something I haven’t done in a long time. I sat, and I wrote. I worked on a new story, and I worked on edits. I may not be able to continue to do this when I go back to work tomorrow, but I really hope I can continue to do this overall. I’m going to try. I plan on spending time today working on both, even if it isn’t for long.

My painting class is almost over. After this, I only have one more class, and then I’ll be at my 120 credits and graduating. This means I need to work on my application for my master’s program. I’ve looked at it, but I haven’t gotten very far into it. That’ll have to become my focus soon since I have to have my application in soon.

My painting has improved over this class. My paintings are looking like the objects I’m painting, so we’ll see what the next class brings, which is another painting class. I start that in a little over a week. I’ll end up running out of wall space to hang them! But I’m enjoying the class and I’m finding it relaxing. When I start my master’s program I won’t know what to do with myself. It is nice having my last classes being kind of fun. We’ll see what the future hold for me.
