Tuesday was my last of classes for the summer. I was up until 10pm working on my final project for my drawing class. I had finished my paper and submitted it around 7pm. It was tough. It was a self-portrait, and I am not very good at any of that. Drawing a nose was impossible. But I managed it and had a sleepless night. I was a zombie at work the next day.
Wednesday also brought with it eye pain, like something sharp was in my eye. I knew what was happening. In the middle of June I had that same pain and it was the beginning of Shingles. At 40 years old I had Shingles. At 40 years old, I had it again a 6 weeks after the first time. I contacted the dermatologist who was treating me and started antivirals again. Thursday brought the rash and severe itching. Friday brought a brighter rash and more itching/swelling. I went to the eye doctor because apparently when you have it near your eye you get it checked. I got the all clear and was told to use tons of dry eye drops. Saturday brought my very, very itchy eye waking me up at 6am. That was fun. Today, the rash by my eye is pretty much completely gone, but now I have dull pain and itching. I’m trying to ignore it. So this has all been fun. Apparently, getting a house, working full-time, and have a stressful semester of school can cause you to have an outbreak and recurrence. But I’ve been able to relax since Tuesday.
Yesterday, I decided to see how I did in my classes, and I am so happy to say I got straight As this summer. I was ecstatic when I saw I got an A in my capstone class. I would have been happy to have just passed my drawing class, but I’ll take an A. I start my painting class on Wednesday and my supplies will be in so I can get started on that soon. It does have a lot of drawing involved so maybe I’ll get even better. Wish me luck!
In my time off from school I’ve also had to opportunity to write. I’ll be honest, I was writing while I should have been doing homework last weekend. I haven’t done any since finishing my classes. Mostly because I’ve been too tired. Plus you don’t feel like staring at a computer screen when your eye itches like hell. Because I was writing though, I felt more like me, a me I haven’t been in a long time. It was nice and I wish I had the time to do more of it. I’ll get there though.
The house front, nothing much to report. Yesterday I was able to watch them put in the block that’s part of my foundation (or something like that, I don’t understand it all). So in other words, it’s getting closer and it no longer looks like a house that’s just sitting there on cinder blocks. It still doesn’t have steps though. The electric company did their survey and now I’m waiting on the estimate for digging things up and putting down the piping for the electricity. I’m hoping it’s not a lot of money, but I’m expecting a few grand.
That’s about it for me this week. Have a nice week and I’ll see you next week! Maybe I’ll have my front yard dug up for electricity. Back to packing for me.
