A Finished Portfolio, a House, and a Book

This has been both the most stressful and one of the best weeks of my life. Work was very stressful, it could have been a lot worse than it was, but it was very stressful. I was happy to see it over.

Tuesday was also the day my portfolio for school was due. I’ve spent a lot of time working on it, house upon hours working on the 64-page document. When I hit submit, I felt a weight if it all melted away. It was hard to hit that button, but it was done. I didn’t exactly feel confidence in the portfolio, but I was tired of looking at it and it was time. So that’s exactly what I did.

Friday brought settlement for my house. It had been delivered and it was time to begin the mortgage and as many call it “adulting.” It’s all incredibly exciting and I was able to step into my future bedroom and living room. Stupid me thought I could see the bathroom, but it was in the other half of the double-wide, so while I didn’t get to see much of the house, I was inside it. I handed over my down payment, signed a whole bunch of papers and went shopping. After that, I got some bad news. I thought I’d be moving into my house by the beginning of September. Well, apparently the electric company is very slow and the electrician said I should be in before Thanksgiving. That is an estimate and I really hope it’s a lot sooner than that, but it is what it is. At least I’ll be able to look out my window and see it. They are delivering it and setting it up this week.

Yesterday brought more joy. I have been awaiting the new Deadpool movie since it was announced. I had set aside money so I could go see it. Well, I had the opportunity and it was no disappointment. I loved it. It was on par if not better than the other two. After the movie I went home to do homework. I signed on to check my English class and found my portfolio grade has posted. I didn’t want to look. I knew I did well enough to pass, but honestly, I expected to get a low “B.” When I clicked on the notification I was shocked to see a 96%. I got an “A” on my PORTFOLIO that I need for my capstone class, required for my degree!

My last thing happened on Thursday, I know, I’m out of order on days here, but the others were a little bigger for my personal life. I spoke with a customer last week about my books (he saw a tattoo I have of a pen and book). He went out and bought my book and brought it back in for me to sign. I’ve never had that happen before. It was nice and exciting. Small, but something to make my day and week brighter. Honestly, if it weren’t for my house and portfolio this would have been the highlight of my week.

Well, it’s been a busy week for me and I honestly hope next week is less eventful. My house will be coming, but I need the rest to just be average. I can’t take these ups and downs.
